KPI dashboard / Last 7 days
What counts as first value? A new user creates and shares their first project within 7 days of signup. Compare cohorts only after the full 7-day window.
Cost context: $2,000 in paid-media spend / 400 signups = $5 per signup. $2,000 / 20 paying customers = $100 paid-media CAC. This excludes salaries and tools and is not blended CAC.
Decision: volume rose, but activation fell. Check cohort maturity, source mix and event quality before scaling spend.
Weekly priorities / A realistic 12-hour block
Plan 10 hours of delivery and keep 2 hours for unexpected work. Each priority has a concrete output and a dependency.
| Priority | Output / Definition of done | Owner / Due | Time / Dependency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Validate activation data | Reconcile 20 sample journeys; document missing or duplicate events. | Growth + analyst / Tuesday | 3h / Event access |
| 2. Diagnose onboarding friction | Review 10 anonymised sessions; list three observed blockers. | Growth + UX / Wednesday | 3h / Approved session access |
| 3. Prepare one focused test | Approved experiment brief, measurement check and launch checklist. | Growth + developer / Friday | 4h / Data check and UX review |
Defer: a new paid channel and a dashboard redesign. Neither resolves the current activation question.
Experiment record / Ready for review
Hypothesis: if we replace the blank first-project screen with a relevant sample project, more new users will create and share a project within 7 days because the first action is clearer.
Primary metric: 7-day activation rate among eligible new users. Baseline: 25%. Planning target: 30%, not a promised outcome.
Guardrails: support-contact rate and error rate. Define acceptable thresholds with the team before launch.
Design: randomise eligible users between current and sample-project flows. Analyst sets sample size and minimum detectable effect before launch; wait for complete 7-day cohorts.
Owner: Growth manager. Dependencies: validated events, design approval, developer capacity. Status: draft; not launched. Result: no result yet.
Decision rule: roll out only after the planned analysis supports improvement without breaking guardrails; otherwise revise or stop.
Weekly stakeholder update / Copy the structure
What happened: signups grew from 360 to 400. Activation fell from 30% to 25%; signup-to-paid conversion stayed at 5%.
What we know: the activation step needs investigation. We do not yet know whether source mix, tracking or onboarding explains the change.
This week’s action: validate events, review anonymised sessions and prepare a sample-project experiment.
Decision needed: confirm analyst access by Tuesday and 4 hours of developer capacity for next week’s approved test.
Next review: share the evidence and final brief on Friday. No claim of a test win before results exist.
